Leithwood Pottery.

Forever endeavoring the growth of faith from the work of my hands.

I am a aspiring maker of pots. After graduating early from the University of Guelph's Political Science program in 2009 I became a full-time ceramics student at Sheridan College in Oakville, Ontario. From Sheridan I got the apprenticship I hold now with Scott Barnim of Dundas, Ontario which began in May of 2010.

I am from Brampton, Ontario and spent time in Guelph and now reside in Burlington and hopefully southern Ontario will not be the end of me.

I am interested in (1)atmospheric firings and kilns, mostly turning clay, but not without tracks of texture and manipulation in mainly functional work. (2) Working in electric kilns also interests me. In particular Majolica or techniques that will allow clear and precise imagery using a brush or photo on tile or functional pieces. (3) From a sculptural standpoint - working in slabs to create gestural forms that exude construction and building.

This is my forum to post what is happening with my own work and what inspires me exactly. I like to take a lot of photos and explore the terrain of Canada vigorously - pots may come on some of these journeys with me. I am aiming to update once a week at least with photos and text of what I have been doing in the studio.

Some other interests that I have are maps, canoeing, snowshoeing, bicycling, hills, pathways, tree rings, abandoned farms and fields, wildlife, tree climbing, kayaking, and solitude.
